H.E. Amb. (Dr) Monica Juma Delivers High-Level Lecture to Course 28 – 2025/2026 at the National Defence College on 8 April 2026.
H.E. Amb. (Dr) Monica Juma, DPhil (Oxon), EGH, delivered a high-level lecture to participants of Course 28-2025/2026 at the National Defence College on 8 April 2026. Her lecture focused on the changing nature of national security in today’s fast-evolving global environment.
The National Defence College (NDC) Kenya is a premier and credible institution, serving as the highest defence training college in the country. It specializes in national security and strategy, training senior military officers and public servants from Kenya and allied nations. The current intake include senior officers from 16 allied countries from Africa and Asia.
She was received by the Commandant, Lt Gen Mwinyikai, together with Senior Faculty members of the College, who also attended the session.
In her address, Amb. Juma explained the growing complexity of the global security landscape. She noted that modern challenges require clear purpose, strong coordination, and a good understanding of both regional and international issues. Drawing from her extensive experience in public service, she showed how strong policies can help build national resilience.
The lecture gave participants valuable insights into national security and highlighted the need for strategic thinking when dealing with today’s global challenges.
Amb. Juma encouraged participants to think ahead, stay adaptable, and apply strong analytical skills in uncertain situations. She urged them to lead with purpose, guided by a clear understanding of national interests and the realities of an increasingly interconnected world.
