NDC Course 29 Partipants Undertake Cohesion-Building Hike At OL Donyo Sabuk National Park
Participants of the National Defence College (NDC) Course No. 29 2026/27 undertook a challenging hike on 20 Aug 26 at Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park in Kilimambogo as part of the College’s experiential learning and team-building activities aimed at strengthening cohesion, camaraderie and professional relationships.
The hike was led by the Senior Directing Staff Army, Maj Gen Richard Mwanzia, and Senior Directing Staff Navy, Maj Gen Timothy Lekolool, who both accompanied and encouraged the participants throughout the demanding terrain.
The activity brought together all the participants from the KDF, MDAs and allied countries, providing an opportunity to interact beyond the formal learning environment. As participants navigated the tough rugged terrain, they were challenged to demonstrate endurance, resilience, teamwork and mutual support.
Beyond the physical challenge, the hike served as an important platform for fostering cohesion and strengthening relationships among Course 29 participants. The shared experience encouraged participants to appreciate diverse perspectives, build trust and develop a stronger sense of collective purpose.
The exercise also reinforced key leadership values including discipline, perseverance, adaptability and teamwork. These qualities complement the strategic and academic engagements at NDC, where participants are prepared to address complex national, regional and international security challenges through collaboration and strategic leadership.
The Ol Donyo Sabuk hike therefore formed an important part of the broader NDC programme, combining physical endurance with team-building and leadership development while strengthening bonds among the diverse group of strategic-level participants.
