NDC-K STRENGTHENS REGIONAL SECURITY LEADERSHIP THROUGH COURSE 28 GRADUATION

The National Defence College – Kenya (NDC-K), a constituent college of the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), on 26 May 2026 graduated Course 28 of 2025/2026 during a ceremony held at the College in Karen, Nairobi.

Held under the theme “Luminaries, Illuminating the Future,” the ceremony saw 71 participants graduate from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and nine allied nations across Africa and beyond, reflecting the College’s growing regional and international stature in strategic leadership and defence studies.

Cabinet Secretary for Defence Hon. Soipan Tuya, who presided over the ceremony, emphasized the College’s role in strengthening strategic leadership, policy dialogue, and regional security cooperation through its multinational learning environment and distinguished alumni network.

Commandant NDC-K Lieutenant General Juma Mwinyikai described the graduation as a milestone achieved through discipline, sacrifice, and intellectual commitment, noting that the College remains focused on developing strategic leaders capable of addressing emerging global and regional security challenges.

The Ministry of Defence further outlined plans to strengthen NDC-K under the NDU-K framework through increased student intake, expansion of partner nations, introduction of a PhD programme, and enhancement of learning infrastructure to meet global standards in advanced military education.

The ceremony was attended by senior military and government officials, including Chief of the Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri, Defence Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru, Vice Chief of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General John Omenda, Vice Chancellor of NDU-K Lieutenant General David Tarus, and Service Commanders.

The graduation marked the transition of a new cadre of strategic leaders prepared to advance national, regional, and global security cooperation in an increasingly complex security environment.
