GOC WestCom Maj Gen Jeff Nyagah Delivers Lecture to National Defence College Participants of Course 28 – 2025/2026 on 8 April 2026.

Maj Gen Jeff Nyagah, General Officer Commanding West Command (GOC WestCom), delivered a lecture to participants of Course 28 -2025/2026 at the National Defence College (NDC), highlighting campaign planning as a critical component of modern military operations.

The National Defence College (NDC) Kenya is a premier and credible institution, serving as the highest defence training college in the country. It specializes in national security and strategy, training senior military officers and public servants from Kenya and allied nations. The current intake includes senior officers from 16 allied countries from Africa and Asia.

He was received by the Commandant, Lt Gen Mwinyikai, alongside Senior Faculty members, who also attended the session.

Drawing on his extensive operational experience, Maj Gen Nyagah emphasized the importance of aligning strategic objectives with tactical execution in today’s dynamic and unpredictable security environment. He referenced recent regional operations to illustrate how changing threats continue to shape the planning and conduct of modern warfare.

He noted that adaptability, inter-agency coordination, and a clear understanding of the adversary are key to effective campaign planning. He stressed that successful operations increasingly rely on close collaboration between the military, intelligence agencies, law enforcement, diplomatic actors, and other stakeholders working toward shared objectives.

Maj Gen Nyagah also underscored the role of diplomacy as a vital pillar in managing conflict, shaping outcomes, and supporting military efforts toward sustainable peace.

The lecture provided participants with practical insights, linking theoretical concepts to real-world operational experiences.
