The Vice Chancellor, National Defence University–Kenya (NDU-K), Lt Gen David Tarus, delivered a Lecture of Opportunity on Strategic Leadership to Course 28–2025/2026 participants at the National Defence College on 13 Jan 2025.The lecture was themed around Strategic Leadership. He underscored the responsibility of strategic leaders to identify and exploit opportunities amid uncertainty, manage risk and align national capabilities with long-term security objectives and national interests.
Lt Gen Tarus emphasized professional military education as a critical enabler of national power, noting its role in developing adaptive, ethical, and forward-looking leaders capable of addressing evolving security challenges. He called on participants to embrace foresight, innovation, and institutional leadership in service of the nation.
He was accompanied by the Commandant, National Defence College, Lt Gen Juma Mwinyikai, alongside senior military officers and faculty from the college.
